Did You Know?

The Faith Formation programs at Holy Eucharist provide families with

meaningful experiences that serve as stepping stones on the lifelong journey to become disciples of Jesus Christ. Parents must be involved in both faith formation and sacrament preparation programs because you are integral in the role you play infaith development.

We have dedicated parishioners committed to serving the community and to making our programs the best they can be. We look forward to our partnership this coming year. If there is anyway we can assist you further, please do not hesitate to contact us at the parish office

Faith Development

Holy Eucharist Parish is committed to lifelong faith formation at every age and every stage of life. Our goal is to form a community of faith that assists our members to open their hearts and minds to experience the Kingdom of God in our midst. Through the proclamation of God’s Word, the celebration of the Sacraments, and by sharing our gifts, our hope is to make the kingdom more visible thus contributing to a more just and peaceful society.

Faith Formation at Holy Eucharist consists of two options:

The Faith Fest Option is based on the Generations of Faith approach, which integrates home and parish into a comprehensive model of faith formation. This option empowers and equips individuals and families to live their faith at home and in the world. The Generations approach is intergenerational. It promotes learning across the generations and views the family as the church of the home and a community of learning and practice. Our aim is to bring about in the believer an ever more mature faith in Jesus Christ, a deeper knowledge and love of his person and message, and a firm commitment to follow him.

Traditional Classroom Option of Faith Formation invites the child into a program of weekly classroom instruction in the Catholic Faith.

Both options provide preparation for sacraments and assist parents in preparing their child for those peak moments on the faith journey — the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation, as well as other sacraments and special events. We also offer days of reflection for the children and parents in both experiences.
Both our Faith Fest and classroom options reflect our aim to inform, form and transform individuals, families and the entire community in the Catholic Faith. There are additional opportunities for adults to grow in their knowledge, understanding and practice of the Catholic Faith. Holy Eucharist offers the following programs:

BAPTISM

We want to welcome parents, whether birth parents, or adoptive parents, whether couples or a single parent, whether their child is an infant or is already exploring their new world, whether as parents their faith is strong or they are just beginning to make it their own, whether they as a family share the same religious background or they come from very different religious traditions. Holy Eucharist parish provides one evening of catechesis on the sacrament of Baptism especially for parents and godparents so that they might enter more deeply into the experience of baptism and thereby participate more fully and consciously in the Baptism of their child or children. Our program wants to provide an opportunity for parents to take the time out to reflect on their own journey of faith, affording parents the opportunity to meet and interact with other families in the parish and thereby strengthen their sense of belonging to the community, and to offer both the prayer and support of the parish community.

Baptism Preparation Classes, which last approximately one hour, are held on the fourth Friday of the month at 7:30 p.m. In the months of November and December they are held on the third Friday. Both parents should attend together to help learn more about the Catholic faith they will be passing on to their child. Godparents are also encouraged to attend. Please call the parish office to register for the class.

Baptisms can be celebrated during a specifically scheduled weekend mass or on the second Sunday of the month at 1:00 p.m. No baptisms are celebrated during  Lent. Further information is contained in the Sacrament of Baptism Booklet which you will receive when specific arrangements for your child’s Baptism are made through the Parish Office. Gathered around our baptismal font, the Holy Eucharist Parish Community looks forward to helping parents begin the faith formation of their children and to supporting them as they continue the journey together.

LITTLE DISCIPLES

Little Disciples is a child care program for children from walking through age 4. It is currently offered at the 10:30 Mass on Sundays. A gospel related story and a lesson are presented, appropriate for the age of the Children s Word/Little Disciples children. Children’s bible music CDs add to the gentle, quiet atmosphere, and there is time for free play. Our objective is to offer the youngest members of our parish an enjoyable place to spend time so their parents/caregivers can fully and prayerfully participate in the Eucharist without distraction.

INTRODUCING...THE VISIONS OF FAITH INTERAC11VE MUSEUM
Holy Eucharist is introducing an exciting new way to learn about our faith for all Holy Eucharist parishioners. The Visions of Faith Interactive Museum will focus on a core Catholic teaching tied to the Faith Fest theme of the year. In 2010-2011 Faith Fest will be exploring the Bible, so the Visions of Faith Interactive Museum will present “Opening Doors to the Word of God”. Stations will be displaying in the atrium and in other places in the Church where needed for at least 10 days. Parishioners can come any time the church is open. This experience is self-guided and therefore allows participants to learn at their own pace and to share learning with a spouse, child, friend, neighbor or individually. There will be different levels of activities — for adults, youth (grades 5-9) and children (grades 4 and under). The children’s activities are designed for parent-child learning. look for “Opening Doors to the Word of God” in mid to late January 2011 and come, learn and share faith in new and exciting ways.
