Lenten Soup The mission of the Lenten Soup Night Committee is to spread Christ’s word of love to our sister parish through a community effort during Lent. This is accomplished by asking the parish community to participate in a sacrificial meal of meatless soup each Wednesday during Lent, donating the equivalent of a normal meal to assist the community in Ecuador with its needs. Along with volunteering to make soup, there are a number of ways that those participating in this ministry might help, such as: writing bulletin announcements, typing materials, working in the kitchen on soup nights, tracking cooks and orders, assisting at the church sign up table, and helping with the forms and prayer sheets that accompany soup pick-up. We also sell chances for a Nativity Set at several weekend masses. The committee usually meets one or two times, as needed, just prior to Lent to organize the effort and assign duties.
